Move over Gaia Retreat, there's a new name in resort-style day spas hitting the wellness scene in Australia and the location might just surprise you...

Our nation's capital is now home to Australia's newest luxury health retreat. Doma Group has completed a $3 million refurbishment of the Brassey Hotel, creating a luxury health retreat in the Realm precinct.

Hale Spa comprises over 1,000 square metres of fitness inspiration and pure body indulgence now available to guests staying at Hotel Realm, Burbury Hotel and Little National Hotel.

The day spa features a cave-like spa pool, infrared saunas, nine treatment rooms including a couples suite and segregated female and male steam rooms. Linger a little longer in the lounge with fireplace and views onto an internal courtyard with calming water feature for guests to enjoy before, during or after treatments.

It's not all about pampering, with a focus on fitness and wellbeing part of the Hale offering. The well-equipped gym has a general fitness area, free weights room, group training room, Pilates/Yoga studio and spin studio. If you'd rather escape and breathe in the crisp Canberra air, there is also an outdoor gym area and a landscaped running track around the perimeter.

Whether it's fitness or relaxation, your total health and wellbeing is the priority at Hale Spa. The team at Hale aims to educate and provide a holistic approach, which delivers strength, flexibility, core strength, aerobic and anaerobic fitness.

The gym and spa have been designed to be stylish spaces set amongst beautiful gardens, a sanctuary for guests to escape from their daily lives.

The health and wellness message has made its way into the Realm Precinct restaurants too, with Buvette, Chairman and Yip, Lilotang, Ostani and Maple & Clove all displaying a "H" symbol next to dishes approved by Hale nutrition experts.

Canberra is slowly shifting its all business attitude to become a sought after short break destination particularly for Sydneysiders, with Canberra within easy reach for a weekend getaway. Boasting a plethora of top-notch restaurants serving incredible food and wine, the annual Truffle Festival growing in popularity, Floriade and blockbuster gallery exhibitions and you have all the ingredients for an indulgent escape.
