The Port Douglas Carnivale is set return this May, bigger and brighter than ever! If you haven’t had the opportunity, Port Douglas’ Carnivale showcases the flair of North Queensland through its musicians, local produce and an array of jazzy events. This annual celebration is running from 22nd to 31st May, a perfect time of year to experience the culture and climate of the region.

This tropical fiesta commences with the renowned Macrossan Street Parade which attracted more than 20,000 people last year. To mix things up, the street parade has a different theme each year to ensure partygoers can experience the eclectic talent of the locals. To mark Carnivale’s 21st year, organisers have revealed that this year’s street parade will be like no other with the addition of special floats, decorations and pre-parade entertainment.

The Port Douglas Carnivale is also set to host some unusual activities including a Japanese horse archery tournament and a motorised cooler championship. It seems locals take their motorised coolers quite seriously as a specially designed track has been constructed at the Reef Marina to test drivers of all ages. Beware of the tight corners and speedy straights!

It’s an opportunity to enjoy good company, award winning food and flavorsome wines.

The foodie festivities don’t stop there, as the Port Douglas Carnivale is set to host a Seafood Extravaganza along the Marina boardwalk; an evening of craft beer and ciders; and a feast showcasing the finest local produce. This celebration of all things gourmet offers locals and visitors alike the opportunity to attend celebrity chef events, sample local produce and to observe the professionals in their element.
