It is no secret we are fans of the cool climate Granite Belt region in Queensland.  Any excuse to make our escape from Brisbane and surround ourselves with country hospitality, farm fresh produce and wine, glorious wine!

The Setting

Arriving at Azjure Studio Retreat via the long driveway, we’re greeted by the sight of the main house surrounded by vines and three perfectly constructed studio villas, far enough apart to provide privacy. Check-in is a breeze as the hosts send you the security code prior to arrival, allowing you to arrive at your leisure, perfect if you’re making your escape on a Friday afternoon, as Ballandean is approximately 3 hours drive from Brisbane.

The Location

While feeling secluded and private you are actually centrally located in Ballandean, surrounded by great restaurants and wineries.  Three of the Granite Belt’s finest wineries are within walking distance of Azjure – Ballandean Estate, Tobin Wines and Golden Grove Estate.

The Room

Azjure is jaw-droppingly beautiful with soothing music and lights on ready for our arrival.  A spacious open plan villa greets us with heavenly king size bed, fully equipped kitchen (including coffee machine), laundry, lounge & dining area opening onto a wide verandah inviting you to settle in for sunset drinks and watch the kangaroos roam the property.

Top of many people’s list for a romantic getaway is a spa bath and fireplace. Tick, Tick Azjure has both. The enormous bathroom with separate shower and luxury double basins has a stunning two person spa with picture window to watch the tranquil country setting from your relaxing vantage point.

Comfort Factor

This is pure luxury and indulgence, from luxurious bedding to the fully equipped kitchen with quality inclusions, nothing has been overlooked in this romantic retreat.  Plush bathrobes, soothing music, a minibar of local Symphony Hill wines and we’re on your way for a relaxing weekend in style.

Food

You’re also spoilt for choice with the Barrel Room, Vineyard Cottages Café & Shiraz all located close by in Ballandean. The Barrel Room is our favourite, with chef owners Matt and Bobbi-Lee Wells turning out divine Italian inspired fare. We couldn’t resist the mushroom & truffle infused soup, perfect on a cool night.

Don’t Miss…

Before leaving town, drop by Suttons Juice Factory & Cidery, their famous apple pie served with spiced cider ice cream is not to be missed. They make a gluten free version now too.

The Verdict

Azjure Studio Retreat is one of the premier properties in the Granite Belt. If you’re looking for an indulgent getaway, this is a sophisticated stay in a tranquil bush setting allowing you to relax & reconnect. The perfect base for a romantic getaway exploring the wineries, food & beauty of the Granite Belt.
