Summer holidays are the best time to relax, recharge and indulge in some quality holiday reading. Whether you opt for a challenging read or some 'lady literature' get lost in the romance of a book this summer.

Here's some recommended reads for the summer holidays:

The Dry by Jane Harper
This highly acclaimed book by Australian novelist Jane Harper was hands down our favourite book of 2017! This page-turning debut mystery is set in a small town hiding some big secrets. The followup 'Force of Nature' was just as gripping!

The Midnight Line by Lee Child
The latest novel by British writer Lee Child, 'The Midnight Line' is the twenty-second book in the Jack Reacher series. Reacher is still shaken by the recent horrors of 'Make Me' and now 'The Midnight Line' sees him on a simple quest for justice. An ideal beach read.

Parting Words by Cass Moriarty
Another fabulous Australian novelist, Cass' debut novel 'The Promise Seed' was also one of our favourites last year. Her latest novel 'Parting Words' tackles a great plot whereby three children must hand-deliver letters addressed to strangers from their father's past in order to collect their generous inheritance. Beautifully written and exploring the themes of loyalty, betrayal, grief and the importance of forgiveness.

Distress Signals by Catherine Ryan Howard
This thriller is a great holiday read; just don't take it on a cruise ship! A debut novel that channels 'Gone Girl' and 'Into the Water' from acclaimed UK writer Catherine Ryan Howard. The book asks, "Did she leave, or was she taken?" and is a compelling murder mystery wrapped up in the cruise industry. Howard's followup novel "The Liar's Girl" is due to be released in early 2018 and we cannot wait!

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
A more challenging holiday read, 'The Goldfinch' tells the story of a young man who survives a terrorist bombing at an art museum – an attack that kills his mother. From there, he tumbles through a series of adventures that find him living in Las Vegas with his deadbeat father and later, involved in art forgeries. Soon to be a major motion picture with filming commencing in 2018!

The Scandal by Frederik Backman
Released in the US under the name 'Beartown' by best selling author of 'A Man Called Ove'. Midway through this book and totally hooked! 'The Scandal' is about a small town with a big dream and the price required to make it come true.
