Top 5 Bondi Breakfasts

If you’re visiting Sydney, sun worshippers will want to head to their mecca of Bondi Beach. But you don’t want to fall into the tourist traps of obvious eateries along Campbell Parade. Experience the best this beach side suburb has to offer and live like a local with our roundup of hidden gems, local haunts and just plain amazing breakfast spots at iconic Bondi Beach.

We bring you the Top 5 Bondi breakfasts for beachside breakfast bliss:

Porch & Parlour

So hipster it hurts, but Porch & Parlour delivers with rustic appeal, locally sourced ingredients and coffee from Will & Co sure to give you that morning kickstart. We loved the smashed eggs on sourdough with avocado and a sneaky side order of salmon & haloumi. It’s relaxed and casual, so you can stroll right off the beach in your bikini and thongs.

The Hill Eatery

From the tastemakers that brought you Porch & Parlour, their second outpost The Hill Eatery is a little more refined and sophisticated. With ample seating compared to it’s tiny cousin you’re more likely to be able to linger longer. We love their ethos of farm to plate and ethically sourced, wholesome produce. Knock yourself out with a breakfast board of poached eggs, chorizo, roasted tomato, fetta, olives, avocado, field mushrooms, tomato chutney and sourdough, what more could you want?

Jed’s Food Store

Away from the ‘scene’ that is Hall Street and Campbell Parade, local favourite Jed’s serves up inventive breakfasts with a Mexican edge. Case in point ‘Zapatista Eggs’ Chiapas style scrambled eggs with corn totilla, picked cactus, white corn, coriander, avo, crumbled cheese and green salsa. Coffee is intense and rich and arguably the best chai in Bondi.

Lox, Stock and Barrel

The little brother of popular breakfast spot Brown Sugar, Lox Stock and Barrel is just around the corner on Glenayr Ave.  This New York-style deli has become a popular Bondi haunt for bagel lovers. As the name suggests you’d be a fool not to order the lox. The ‘Lock n Load’ includes hash, smoked lox, lime and crème fraiche with a dill dressing. Delish!

Bondi Picnic

With its schmick interior, subtly industrial with polished concrete floor, colourful stools and blankets to borrow, this is no ordinary picnic. On a sunny corner, drink in the sunshine and some seriously great coffee from Little Marionette. Renowned for their vege-cado, which allows punters to build your own breakfast and includes two slices of toast with avocado, vegemite and lemon with optional sides. Proving life’s a picnic when the simple things in life are done well.

While not a café perse, an honourable mention must go to the Bondi Farmers Market at Bondi Beach Public School. It’s a great option for ‘brekkie on the go’ or slow down and pull up a piece of grass in the sunshine with a Chai from the always popular Chai tent. Open 9am-1pm you’ll find some ethically sourced, sustainable gems all sold by the people who grow or make it including ‘I’m Smoking Hot’ for amazing hot smoked salmon, smoked on the premises - eat on the spot for breakkie and stir the leftovers through pasta with some lemon, capers and rocket for dinner! You can’t go past ‘Lyrebird Corner Fritters’ for the best corn fritters in town, made from organic free range eggs topped with a range of homemade toppings and relishes – the caramelised maple balsamic syrup is especially delish!
