Calling all Gin lovers! As if you even needed an excuse, it’s World Gin Day!  While you could celebrate with a nip of good gin served on ice, a bit of cucumber and a slosh of tonic water at home, here’s our roundup of the best gin infused bars across Australia.

Melbourne | Gin Palace

We thought we’d start with the obvious choice first.  Hidden in Russell Place, Gin Palace is a Melbourne institution. With its low-level lighting, velvet plush seating and cosy corners, it makes for the perfect gin drop-in.

Sydney | Stillery

InterContinental Double Bay’s main bar Stillery is a concept bar, focused tightly on everything Gin related. With over 60 local and international gins, a long list of cocktails infused with botanical ingredients, it’s the best spot for gin aficionados.

Brisbane | Dutch Courage Officers’ Mess

Dutch Courage Officers’ Mess is a cocktail, gin and share plate bar inspired by the British colonial outposts of the late 19th century. This quirky bar is located next to Kwan Brothers in Fortitude Valley, with over 80 gins on offer. You can be easily baffled by the extensive cocktail list, so we suggest you try their signature cocktail the Bloomsbury Bouquet – Tanqueray gin, St Germain elderflower, yellow chartreuse, egg white and chamomile flowers.

Adelaide | The Howling Owl

This little watering hole is a café by day and relaxed cocktail by night, just off Rundle St. Serving over 40 small batch gins from around the world including local Kangaroo Island Gins infused with native botanicals. The Howling Owl will be celebrating World Gin Day with DJ’s, food trucks, masterclasses or taste some local gins from the gin tasting board.

Even Qantas is getting into the ‘spirit’ with a special cocktail ‘Arch Angel’ created by the Rockpool team. The tailor-made tipple is based on Australian Four Pillars Gin, Aperol, Peychaud’s Bitters and sparkling water, plus a twist of lemon. Available in selected international lounges June 12-18.

And while you're planning a gin-fuelled mini-break, check out our handpicked collection of City Breaks accommodation.
