The eagerly awaited opening of Spicers Potts Point has finally arrived as the luxury boutique hotel opened its doors in inner-city Sydney with style and panache, bravely launching with an industry party on its opening day – who does that?

If you've been following our Instagram account, you'll see we took a pre-opening sneak peek while the final touches were being made. We can confirm the impeccable styling, quality and personalised service you have come to expect from Spicers Retreats has been infused into this new city hotel.

Set in a trio of terrace houses dating back to 1873, the multi-million dollar development boasts 20 luxury hotel rooms that provide relaxed inner-city accommodation for travellers, whilst offering access to some of Sydney's best cafes, bars and restaurants just moments from your door.

Owner of Spicers Retreats, Jude Turner, said she was thrilled to launch the property saying, "Spicers Potts Point has been a delicate restoration-project for my team and I."

"Marrying the preservation of historical features of the property, with modern finishes and amenities throughout has been of utmost importance for this project and I believe the execution of this speaks for itself."

Guests at the retreat can expect to be taken on a journey by the history of the building and surrounding Potts Point area, while taking comfort in the three-storey extension that allows for expansive rooms, a new reception bar and a garden courtyard for enjoying breakfast.

Our favourite element of Spicers Potts Point is the evocative artwork adorning the walls of the boutique hotel. Sydney artist Martine Emdur's underwater art graces the rooms and a large-scale painting in the garden courtyard is simply breathtaking. Emdur's work features submerged models plunged in the water creating a subterranean theatre. The prints are a bold choice in the boutique hotel's room and it works. We believe the inspiration came from Jude Turner herself who admired Emdur's work in one of the Terrace houses prior to purchasing and then commissioned more for the transformed hotel!

The other significant artwork spotted at Spicers Potts Point is the commissioned works by Brisbane's Jan Manton Art Gallery artist Keith Burt. Burt's art is moody and captivating against the white washed walls and contrasts with the light, modern interior design by Rowena Cornwell who has worked on other Spicers properties.

The launch of Spicers Potts Point Retreat adds to the group's existing New South Wales portfolio of properties, including Spicers Sangoma Retreat, located in the foothills of the Blue Mountains and Spicers Vineyards Estate, located in the Hunter Valley.

"We have long-dreamed of having an urban offering in Sydney to round-out our existing New South Wales retreats, and I'm pleased to officially open this to the public," Mrs Turner said.
