Alamanda Palm Cove Review – Palm Cove Perfection

There is no need to go overseas for a luxury spa holiday;  venture just 25 minutes from Cairns to the Alamanda Palm Cove for the ultimate tropical spa getaway!  This luxurious all-suite hotel is the only hotel in Palm Cove to offer absolute beachfront accommodation, with only palm trees between you and the stunning Palm Cove beach.

On arrival, I’m greeted with a glass of bubbles and some local Daintree Estates chocolate, making the check-in process a warm and welcoming experience; yes I think I’m going to settle in just fine here!

Rooms at Alamanda Palm Cove

The apartments are in a word HUGE, around twice the size of a standard one bedroom apartment elsewhere and ideal for unwinding for a few days. We stayed in a one bedroom pool view room which had an enormous lounge room with super comfy corner lounge, dining table, fully equipped kitchen and balcony overlooking the pool and gardens.

Suites are decorated in a sophisticated tropical style and the bedroom boasted two bathrooms, one ensuite with shower and the other with a bath. While the apartments were impeccably presented, the TV’s and timber furniture are starting to look ready for an update. The king size bed was uber comfortable to guarantee a good night sleep.

Rejuvenation at Alamanda Palm Cove

Waking refreshed and revived, I decided to take a sunrise walk along the beach and watch the first light break along the beach. I wasn’t alone and there were plenty of budding photographers trying to snap the sunrise.

The hotel offers guests complimentary pilates and beachfront yoga on selected days and Saturday’s yoga session was full with holiday makers making the most of the stunning morning. Beth’s calming voice and the sound of the waves is certainly a tranquil way to start the day.

Alamanda’s award winning day spa is not to be missed. Few spas in Australia boast such a stunning beach backdrop and during my Signature Massage the therapist opened the windows to let in the sea breeze and hear the lapping waves, pure bliss. However, the best was still to come… after an hour of pampering, I was led upstairs to the private spa pavilions to relax with a cup of T2 Tea post massage. This private pavilion with plunge pool makes for a memorable end to the ultimate tropical treat.

Breakfast at Alamanda Palm Cove

Alamanda Palm Cove boasts beachfront restaurant Nu Nu, rightly voted one of Queensland’s top restaurants and helmed by celebrated Chef Nick Holloway.  Nu Nu is open 7 days from early morning to late, although closed for dinner during my stay for a special event. Definitely opt for the Alamanda Breakfast Special during your stay, an extravagant two-course breakfast with a side of beach views. The breakfast package includes fresh seasonal fruit on arrival and spiced pineapple & coconut cream soaked muesli, Daintree vanilla, mango, seasonal fruits & toasted coconut. For second course, I opted for a Stockmans free-range egg omelette and the breakfast feast comes with your choice of juice and tea/coffee. You can also upgrade to one of Nu Nu’s signature dishes such as North Queensland mud crab omelette, greens, ginger caramel & white pepper broth for just $10.

It’s only a short stroll across the road to all of Palm Cove’s restaurants and cafes, but dining at Nu Nu is a must during your visit to Palm Cove.

Couples Getaway or Family Holiday?

Alamanda Palm Cove manages to cater effortlessly for both couples and families. Palm Cove is a renowned wedding destination and honeymoon hot spot and Alamanda even has a dreamy seaside chapel onsite. Also beachside is an adults only pool thereby allowing some quiet time for couples. Families can frolic in the two other swimming pools, each with their own appeal and there are plenty of nearby attractions to keep kids entertained. The hotel offers a “stress-free” family package which includes offering complimentary items such as cots, prams, strollers, play mats and more during your stay. There are also complimentary activities such as beach volleyball, kites, croquet, bocce, badminton and a comprehensive DVD library and book depository.

There’s plenty of choice for accommodation in Palm Cove, but what sets Alamanda Palm Cove apart is the genuine, friendly and professional service where the team go above and beyond to assist with your every need. Combining absolute beachfront location, with an exceptional spa experience and impeccable dining at Nunu’s makes for the ultimate tropical spa getaway.
