There are wineries you visit for a tasting and then there are wine estates that become the reason for the journey itself.
Set among the rolling vineyards of Ballandean in Queensland's Granite Belt, Meteora is the region's newest luxury wine destination, a place where striking architecture, exceptional wine and Mediterranean hospitality come together to create a world-class dining destination.
Inspired by the dramatic landscapes and timeless traditions of the Mediterranean, Meteora has been designed to immerse guests in the beauty of one of Australia's highest-altitude wine regions. Every detail, from the contemporary stone buildings to the expansive vineyard views, reflects a philosophy centred on gathering, generosity and slowing down to savour life's simple pleasures.
The vision of founders Andrew and Karen Catsoulis, co-founders of National Storage, Meteora is inspired by the family's Greek heritage and visitors will spot subtle Greek motifs throughout the estate.

Over several years, the property has been transformed into a sophisticated estate where architecture sits gently within the landscape, surrounded by newly established vineyards and beautifully considered gardens. It was on a research trip to New Zealand that the owners decided the venue needed an underground wine cave. Fast forward to excavating through 800 cubic metres of solid granite, with the blasted granite repurposed around the properties landscape. The result, a unique 25 metre wine cave nestled in the hillside, providing a rare opportunity to experience wine in the very environment where it matures and develops over time.
Wine lovers will discover a collection led by Chief Winemaker Andy Williams, showcasing the Granite Belt's cool-climate character alongside Mediterranean and alternative varieties including Fiano, Vermentino, Montepulciano, Lagrein, Aglianico and Tempranillo, complemented by regional favourites Chardonnay and Shiraz.

The culinary experience, led by Executive Chef Simon Treller showcases a Mediterranean-inspired menu celebrating the exceptional produce of the Granite Belt and surrounding regions. Each dish has been thoughtfully crafted to complement the estate's wines, inviting guests to linger over long lunches overlooking the vines.
Beyond the restaurant, visitors can enjoy immersive cellar door tastings, private dining experiences including scenic helicopter arrivals. Luxury accommodation is also planned, further cementing Meteora as one of Queensland's most anticipated food and wine destinations.

Meteora signals a new chapter for the Granite Belt. Through visionary design and a commitment to celebrating the region's unique landscape and produce, this remarkable new estate is poised to place Queensland's premier wine region firmly on the radar of discerning travellers seeking Australia's next great luxury escape.
