April is Newcastle Food Month

Following a successful inaugural year, Newcastle Food Month is back, with a program of events spanning the month of April and highlighting the culinary and creative talent of Newcastle’s burgeoning food scene.

There’s an event for everyone in this year’s plentiful program - Opera over dinner in a brewery, dine in a gin distillery and degustation’s any way you like them – Spanish, Italian, Thai, Seafood or even matched with cocktails. There’s even a sustainable progressive lunch taking over a floor of hotel suites.

All the big names in Newcastle’s dining scene such as the Roundhouse at Crystalbrook Kingsley, The Flotilla, Restaurant Mason, Nagisa, Harrisons and Rustica, have designed their own unique events. Food Month Ambassador - Cakeboi Reece Hignell, also teams up with Foghorn brewery in an inspiring collaboration as well as a High Tea event at Cakeboi HQ.



Plate Date returns, with over 40 dining establishments offering a brunch, lunch or dinner, including a beverage for only $25. A terrific opportunity to test run Newcastle’s wide range of eclectic cafes, restaurants and pubs, with the common denominator being incredible food and great value!

Boozy Long Lunch: The Edwards x Angus Vinden | 3 April 2022

Who doesn’t love a boozy long lunch?. The Edwards has partnered with Hunter Valley young gun Angus Vinden of Vinden Wines for a boozy long lunch to remember. Angus is part of the new guard of Hunter Valley winemakers pushing the boundaries and redefining the way we see the valley paired with lots of tasty shared dishes by Chef Jess.

The Hunter River Experience | 7 April 2022

Restaurant Mason
The team from famed Newcastle fine diner Restaurant Mason will be joined by guest Chef Paula Rengger from Boydell’s Restaurant for The Hunter River Experience. Guests will enjoy a sumptous dinner of canapés and a 4 course degustation with wines to match.

Kingsley X Margan: Around the House | 10 April 2022

A wine lunch but make it epic. Teaming up with one of the Hunter Valley’s most innovative vineyards, Margan Wines, this progressive food and wine event includes – six wine tastings, six courses in six different spaces. The event will take you across the Crystalbrook Kingsley hotel, with different immersive experiences centred around six wine varietals with paired food. This one will be out of the box!


The Flotilla x Yellow Billy: Fire, Wine and Friends | 20 April 2022

The Flotilla
The Hunter comes to Newcastle in a collaboration between friends. Chef’s Shayne (Flotilla) and Sam (Yellow Billy) will collaborate on a five course set menu showcasing the art of cooking with fire. Eduardo (Flotilla) and Patrick (Yellow Billy) will curate a special selection of premium wines and cocktails to enjoy alongside the fire coming out of the kitchen.

Cakeboi + Boe Wines High Tea | 24 April 2022

High Tea is inspired by the classic bakes, CWA inspired scones and some delicious savoury treats. Guest will enjoy their high tea with their choice of locally roasted Floozy espresso coffee, Tea Drop loose leaf tea and Boe rose wine.

Signal Box Seafood BBQ | 29 April 2022

The Signal Box
Join Executive Chef Dan James and Head Chef George Mirosevich for their take on a seafood BBQ. Dan and George will utilise the world famous Josper Oven to create a unique experience far different to your typical backyard BBQ. Each course will have a carefully selected wine match from one of our local Hunter Valley wineries.
