Melbourne-based Art Series Hotel Group is set to develop its seventh property, this time in Brisbane, following the purchase of a building in Spring Hill.

Asian Pacific Group CEO and the creator of the Art Series Hotel brand Will Deague said the $155 million development will be the Group’s largest hotel and residential project outside of Victoria and signifies the Group’s plans to expand the award winning brand around Australia over the next 18 months.

Deague said, “We saw this as a strategic purchase due to the high demand for accommodation in Brisbane.

“It is the perfect time for the Art Series Hotel brand to expand nationally and we liked the position of Spring Hill with its proximity to the CBD and Brisbane River and its burgeoning art and café culture.

“The building boasts spectacular views and is easy walking distance to iconic Brisbane art destination GOMA.”

Keeping with the Art Series Hotel concept, the Brisbane hotel, due to open December 2015, will be named after a famous Australian artist with artwork to be displayed throughout the hotel.

Deague said, “The size of the property will allow us to offer our guests unsurpassable leisure options including a 70 metre long swimming pool, open air cinema, volley ball court and golf driving range.

“This combined with our signature art inspired experience will make our Brisbane hotel the ultimate destination for visitors to Australia’s third largest city.”

The news comes hot on the tail of the announcement of the Art Series Studios concept last week. Art Series Studios is a new addition to the group’s portfolio of art inspired hotels and residences that promise to deliver guests an innovative art experience in a design rich environment in leading urban and regional locations around Australia.

Art Series Hotel Group plans to open two Studios within the next 13 months.  The first will open in Bendigo in May 2014 (artist namesake to be revealed in February 2014) followed by a second in Parkville, Melbourne, Larwill Studio. Each Studio hotel will be named after and draw inspiration from a leading Australian contemporary artist like their Art Series Hotel counterparts.

Deague said, “The next 18 months is an exciting time for the Art Series Hotel brands with a number of openings and other offers on the table for new hotels around Australia. We look forward to taking our guests and supporters on this journey with us as we discover new artists and art inspired experiences in each location."

The Art Series Hotel Group is the brainchild of Deague. The Cullen hotel was the first Art Series Hotel to open in 2009, followed by The Olsen and The Blackman in 2010.  The Watson is set to open in Adelaide in July, 2014. As an innovative evolution of the brand, Art Series Studios will see the Group expand to unique locations around Australia at an affordable price point including Bendigo Studio and Larwill Studio in Parkville later 2014. Further details on the Brisbane property will be revealed in 2014.
