First Look: Halcyon Hotel, Cabarita Beach

Last week, we took a first look at an exciting new hotel development currently under construction on the Tweed Coast at the stunning Cabarita Beach. Halcyon Hotel, will be a hotel like no other....

Touring the site with Hotel Manager, Mauro De Riso a charming Italian with a strong background in customer service, his most recent post at the J.K. Place Capri you get a sense the Halcyon Hotel will ooze European-style luxury.  Inspired by the mesmerising coastal villas of Italy's Positano, Lake Como and the Isle of Capri, the 21 room Halcyon Hotel will have a 'white-washed' Mediterranean feel to it, but will be firmly planted on a quintessential Australian surf beach - European sensibilities with an Australian heartbeat we're told.

What we love is that each of Halcyon's suites will have been lovingly curated by Interior Designer, Anna Spiro. Anna has travelled with the hotel's owners to the United States to buy vintage pieces as well as furnishings from some of New York's top designers and artists to furnish the new hotel.  A team of bespoke craftsmen from Northern New South Wales have also been engaged to bring to life many of the vintage pieces.

These pieces will sit alongside Australian treasures such as antique seascapes collected from around the country. "I wanted to help the owners create something unique, not currently offered here in Australia. I want the interior to seem as if it has been collected over a long period of time, and always existed." Anna said.

There are a range of room types from Superior rooms with King size bed, sitting area and terrace and larger Deluxe rooms with balconies on the top floors and some with Ocean Views. The Halcyon Suite and Halcyon Suite Terrace will be incredible two bedroom suites for the ultimate in beach side luxury.

The hub of the hotel will be the outdoor pool and poolside restaurant. The 100 seat restaurant will be managed by multi-award winning chef, Steve "Snowy" Snow of 'Fins' fame at the iconic Byron Bay Beach Hotel. The menu will be produce driven from the organic kitchen garden and native bush foods as well as a bespoke wood fired grill.

Conference organisers will be clambering to secure unique events at Halcyon Hotel, with 150m2 of function space on the ground floor overlooking the pool and ocean.

Other services and facilities you'd expect from a luxury boutique hotel of its calibre include 24 hour reception, concierge, guest lounge, business centre and day spa.
