Newcastle’s Innovative New Distillery

In these challenging times it’s inspiring to see businesses creatively innovate their products and services to suit our brave new world.

One such innovator is new regional distillery Earp Distilling Co, who have commenced producing their own hand sanitiser alongside their impressive range of spirits. During these tricky times of self-isolation and increased hygiene regulations, spirit lovers can order a bottle of Earp spirits and receive a fancy 100ml bottle of sanitiser for free!

If you’re a Newcastle local, you can drop by and sample spirits in the glorious new distillery, albeit obeying social distancing regulations. However, if you’re residing further afield, add this to your must-visit list for an upcoming Newcastle vacay or order online for some self-isolation sustenance.

This shiny new distillery is brought to you by one of Australia’s oldest business families, Earp Bros, who made a name for themselves as the first importers of Spanish ceramic tiles to Australia and continue to innovate with their newest business venture Earp Distilling Co.

Located in the industrial back streets of Newcastle’s hip suburb of Carrington, European ceramic tiles feature prominently in the stylish bar where guests can sample the spirits in laid-back style while viewing all the behind the scenes action of a working distillery.

Through the viewing window you’ll spot “Zeus”, their 5000 litre production still, one of the largest in Australia and apparently up to 90% more efficient than traditional copper stills. Next door in the lab is where the real magic happens and the complex craft of creating the spirit flavours as well as hosting Spirit School distilling classes where you can craft your very own bottle of gin!

Back in the bar, the minimalist style continues the industrial theme, softened with hanging plants and impressive botanical artworks created by the matriarch of the family, Roslyn Earp. Punters can enjoy a tasting flight of their signature spirits alongside a tapas style menu all while enjoying live music.

Overall, the distillery and bar has a real sense of community, focused on sustainability and innovation, it’s a venue you’ll wish was your local.
