Your First Look at Diggies Kiama

A new café has just opened at our favourite seaside town, Kiama on the NSW South Coast just in time for the summer holidays.

Diggies Kiama opened this week, located at the picturesque spot vacated by Milk and Honey near the Kiama Blowhole and Lighthouse.

After a successful career working as a creative and specialising in branding for Sydney design agencies Moon and Saatchi Design, owner Stan Crinis returned to his roots on the south coast in 2004 to open Diggies' first venue in Wollongong.

“We've been waiting for the right location to open a second Diggies and when we saw this iconic seaside spot, we knew it would be perfect. We have completely refurbished the venue so that it has a similar look and feel to Diggies Wollongong and we've included some of our North Beach regular's favourite dishes on the new menu,” Crinis says.

The seasonal menu is fresh, fast and casual with fully licensed dine-in as well as takeaway options. Gourmet flathead fish 'n' chips, local prawn roll with red onion and celery on a soft roll, and buttermilk pancakes feature alongside a range of healthy eats like the green goodness bowl and pan-fried barramundi. There's also plenty of vegan, paleo, gluten-free and dairy-free options. Sounds perfect for summer right?

“It is estimated that nearly one million people visit the Kiama blowhole each year and these people need somewhere to pick up a coffee, grab some lunch or have a drink after they check it out. We're now that spot!”

Live like a local and start the day with a coffee Diggies' granola with spirulina and coconut yoghurt, and fresh juices. Then, cool down in the afternoon with a scoop of local micro-dairy The Pines' ice-cream or sundowner cocktails overlooking Kiama Harbour.

Located adjacent to the Kiama Visitor Centre in Blowhole Point Headland, the 110-seater indoor and outdoor venue is styled by Rebecca Riles of nearby Berry-based Roots and Wings Design. Pastels, earthy greens, crisp white finishes, lush plants hanging in terracotta pots and large open windows create a fresh, relaxed coastal atmosphere.

Diggies Kiama is the perfect gourmet destination for Sydney day-trippers, weekend getaways, and longer road-trips this summer.

Plan your South Coast escape with a stay at one of these coastal cool alluxia getaways.
