Offline is the new Luxury

Is there any escape? As a society, we are overly dependent on social connectivity and the lines between work & life become increasingly blurred in the desire for work/life balance. Time spent "offline" is becoming all too scarce. While all this technology is intended to "connect" us, increasingly we're actually becoming disconnected by less personal interactions.

So maybe it's time for a digital detox? Here's our Top 10 picks for a digital detox:

1. Thalia Haven, East Coast TAS
Turn off your phones and tune in to quality time with your friends, family and loved ones at the spectacular Thalia Haven on Tasmania's East Coast. With no WiFi reception, you'll be blissfully unaware of the Kardashian's latest escapades, as you bliss out in the outdoor bath overlooking the ocean.

2. Saltus, Hepburn Springs VIC
Our impromptu digital detox at Saltus was the inspiration for this post and you can read about the experience here. With no Wifi, it's the ideal opportunity to switch off, unwind, relax and rejuvenate in spa country at the nearby Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa.

3. Glass on Glasshouse, Sunshine Coast Hinterland QLD
Surrounded by mountains, so the WiFi tends to be patchy, just kick back and relax and take in the inspiring scenery, go for a bushwalk or just soak in the magnificent freestanding double spa bath. In winter snuggle up by the fireplace and enjoy the romance of fresh mountain air.

4. Alkina Lodge, Great Ocean Road VIC
Alkina Lodge is the closest luxury accommodation to the 12 Apostles, so make Alkina your base to explore the beautiful natural surrounds of the Great Ocean Road. These architect-designed lodges each sleep 8 guests in style, so gather your friends and organise for the inhouse chef to create a gourmet feast for your group. You won't even miss the outside world.

5. Long Weekend Retreat, South Coast NSW
Gloriously isolated, accessible via 2km of unsealed road and surrounded by nature, you'll feel like you've truly gotten away from it all at Long Weekend Retreat. In truth, it does offer free WiFi, but with so many local activities such as bushwalking, whale watching, swimming, kayaking and exploring Lake Conjola you'll feel at one with nature.

6. Alinghi, Agnes Water QLD
Set in a private estate with secure entry and perched overlooking the ocean; spend your days on a private beach, soaking up the sun and sea. This magnificent house has been voted as one of the world's top 5 beach houses by UK Independent and it's not hard to see why. Sure it has free Wifi and a fully equipped study with fax, but show some self restraint and enjoy the stunning surrounds.

7. Paperbark Camp, South Coast QLD
Get your glamping on at Paperbark Camp on the pristine South Coast. While you're luxury tent is outfitted with everything your heart desires, take a break from digital world and spend your days by the beach and your nights soak in the bath in your Deluxe Safari Tent.

8. Rocky Hills Retreat, East Coast TAS
This amazingly secluded retreat is perched on the mountaintop, with spectacular bush surrounds and ocean views.
